Hi there! My name is Cat Folley. I am a young woman
interested in cinema, primarily for its potential as a vessel for my own
stories which are my greatest personal treasures. I have very little experience
in filmmaking, though I've made a few and am positively brimming with ideas.
I'm a quick and interested learner and I'm excited to see what this new
knowledge will unlock for me. In this course I hope to learn a whole lot of
technical know-how and what working with others to create a film will and
should look like. My greatest hope is that this new experience will help to
dispel some of my anxieties that thrive on the ambiguous unknown when I
consider making a movie with others. I'm super excited and nervous to learn
with and from my peers in this class. I've never really made art together with
others before and I'm hopeful about (and a wee bit afraid of) the process. In
10 years, I hope to be making amazing films and running my own studio. Luckily,
I'm a patient person so I'll happily work towards that goal even if it doesn't
happen in one measly decade. Some interesting non-cinema related things about
me: I am one of nine children, I've lived in various states and in England, I
love languages and want to be a polyglot though I'm only fluent in English at
the moment (and learning Spanish), and I love to sing, draw, act, and write. In
addition to film, I am very interested in sharing my stories in novel and
graphic novel form. I love animals. I have an abundance of cats at the moment,
though I really love tons of creatures, so my ideal is to be a regular Dr. Dolittle
in the future. I look forward to learning in this class and getting to know my
peers. Best luck to all of us this semester!
